Overview

The nVent Quick Tray Pro Center Hanger (SKU: QTPCH24) is a pre-galvanized steel component designed for suspending nVent Quick Tray Pro cable management systems. This center hanger is specifically for 24-inch (610 mm) wide trays. It features a tool-less snap-on attachment, eliminating the need for nuts and bolts for secure tray suspension. A single 1/2-inch threaded rod (locally sourced) is sufficient for single-level installations. For multi-level installations, a 1/2-inch threaded rod is recommended for enhanced structural integrity. The pre-galvanized finish provides corrosion resistance suitable for industrial and commercial applications. Dimensions are 7.50 x 24.00 x 1.00 inches (191 x 610 x 25 mm).

How to Install and Customize QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray

The QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray system offers flexible solutions for cable routing. This guide provides instructions for cutting, bending, and joining tray sections to create custom installations for various applications.

Estimated time: 2h

Tools needed:

QTPBC Side Action Bolt Cutter, Measuring Tape, Marker, Wrench or Socket Set, Safety Gloves

Supplies needed:

QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray sections, QTPBNWK Splice Kits, QTPSSW3 Splice Washers, QTPUS10 Universal Splice Bars, QTP90TKIT T-Connection Splice Bars

  1. Plan Your Cable Tray Layout and Modifications

Determine the required configuration for your cable routing, including straight sections, bends, elbows, tees, and any necessary width reductions. Consult the cutting patterns provided in the manual for your specific tray size and desired modification (e.g., 90-degree bend, elbow, tee). Mark the wires to be cut on the cable tray sections according to your plan.

  2. Cut Cable Tray Sections with Precision

Always use the Hoffman side action bolt cutter (QTPBC) to make all necessary cuts. For each cut, position the cutting jaws on the cradle wire and cut at an angle away from the new end to minimize sharp edges and help protect against corrosion. Begin by cutting the top side wire, then proceed to cut the remaining side wires. Turn the tray over and cut the bottom wires from the underside, ensuring one clean cut for each wire to avoid grinding or touch-up. Wear safety gloves when handling cut metal.

  3. Assemble and Connect Tray Sections

For Bends: After cutting, smoothly bend the tray to the desired angle (e.g., 90-degree, large radius) and secure the connection points using QTPBNWK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3 Splice Washers. For Elbows and Tees: Align the cut sections of two trays at the desired angle (e.g., 90-degree for elbows/tees, 45-degree for Y-junctions). Fasten the joints using QTPBNWK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3 Splice Washers, ensuring proper placement over tray bottom wires where applicable. For Width Reduction: Cut the side and bottom wires according to the reduction guide. Connect the uncut side of the trays using a QTPUS10 Universal Splice Bar and fasteners. Bend the cut wires and secure them with additional QTPUS10 Universal Splice Bars.

  4. Install and Support the Cable Tray System

Position straight section supports at typical 6-foot (1.5m) intervals along the cable tray run. Ensure supports are placed within 24 inches (610mm) of any splice on straight sections. The span between supports should not exceed the length of the tray. Add extra supports around bends and wherever the cable tray changes levels to maintain stability and load-bearing capacity for the cables.
