How to Install and Customize QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray Systems
This guide provides instructions for cutting, forming, connecting, and supporting QUICK TRAY PRO™ cable tray sections to create a custom cable management system.
Estimated time: 2h
Tools needed:
Hoffman Side Action Bolt Cutter (QTPBC)
Supplies needed:
QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray Sections (e.g., QTP4X12BLK), Splice Kits (QTPBNWK or QTPBNWKBLK), Splice Washers (QTPSSW3 or QTPSSW3BLK), Universal Splice Bars (QTPUS10 or QTPUS10BLK), T-Connection or 90-degree Splice Bars (QTP90TKIT or QTP90TKITBLK), Cable Tray Support Hardware
- Plan Cable Tray Layout
Determine the desired cable tray configuration, including straight runs, bends, tees, and changes in level. Select the appropriate QUICK TRAY PRO™ cable tray sections and plan all necessary cuts and modifications based on the specific requirements of your installation.
- Cut and Form Tray Sections
Using the Hoffman side action bolt cutter, carefully cut the cable tray sections according to your planned layout. For bends, elbows, tees, Y-junctions, or width reductions, follow the specific cutting patterns and instructions provided in the QUICK TRAY PRO™ manual to ensure precise and clean cuts. Always rest the cutting jaws on the cradle wire and cut at an angle away from the new end to minimize sharp edges and protect against corrosion.
- Connect Tray Sections
Join the modified and straight cable tray sections using Splice Kits and Splice Washers. For specific configurations such as 90-degree bends, large radius bends, elbows, 90-degree tees, Y-junctions, or width reductions, utilize Universal Splice Bars or T-Connection Splice Bars as indicated in the manual. Ensure all connections are securely fastened using the provided hardware.
- Install and Support Tray System
Mount the assembled cable tray system using appropriate support hardware. For straight sections, install supports at approximately 6-foot (1.5m) intervals. Ensure that a support is placed within 24 inches (610mm) of any splice. Provide additional supports around bends and wherever the cable tray level changes to maintain stability and integrity.
