Overview

The nVent QTPLB12BLK is a robust 12-inch L-bracket engineered from durable black steel, designed to provide a secure and reliable mounting solution for overhead cable management systems. As a critical component in the Quick Tray Pro system, this L-bracket facilitates direct wall mounting, enabling efficient and organized routing of basket tray installations. Its substantial 12-inch length offers extended reach and versatile positioning options, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications where robust support is paramount. Engineered by nVent, a recognized leader in electrical enclosure and connection solutions, the QTPLB12BLK exemplifies the brand's commitment to quality and performance. The black steel construction ensures exceptional strength and resistance to environmental factors, contributing to the longevity and integrity of the entire cable support structure. This bracket is specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with nVent's Quick Tray Pro basket tray system, ensuring compatibility and simplifying the installation process. Installation of the nVent QTPLB12BLK is straightforward, allowing for direct attachment to walls or other vertical surfaces. The bracket's design accommodates the specific fastening requirements of the Quick Tray Pro system. For securing basket trays up to 8 inches (203 mm) in width, one QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washer and one QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kit are recommended. For larger 12-inch (305-mm) trays, the system requires two of each of these splice components to ensure a secure and stable connection. This systematic approach guarantees that the cable tray is firmly anchored, preventing sagging and ensuring the safety and reliability of the installed electrical or data cabling. The applications for the nVent QTPLB12BLK are extensive, spanning various industries including: * **Data Centers:** For organizing and supporting high-density cabling infrastructure. * **Manufacturing Facilities:** To manage power and control cables in demanding production environments. * **Telecommunications:** For routing fiber optic and network cables efficiently. * **Commercial Buildings:** In office spaces, hospitals, and educational institutions for structured cabling. * **Industrial Plants:** Supporting heavy-duty power and instrumentation cables. By choosing the nVent QTPLB12BLK, professionals benefit from a high-quality, purpose-built component that enhances the structural integrity and manageability of their cable tray systems. The durable black finish not only provides a professional aesthetic but also offers an additional layer of corrosion resistance. Trust nVent for dependable solutions that streamline installations and ensure long-term performance in critical infrastructure projects.

How to Modify and Connect QUICK TRAY PRO Cable Tray Sections

This guide provides instructions for cutting, bending, and joining QUICK TRAY PRO cable tray sections to create custom cable management pathways for various installations.

Estimated time: 1h 30m

Tools needed:

Hoffman side action bolt cutter (QTPBC)

Supplies needed:

QUICK TRAY PRO Cable Tray sections (e.g., QTPLB12BLK), QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kits, QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washers, QTPUS10/QTPUS10BLK Universal Splice Bars (as needed), QTP90TKIT/QTP90TKITBLK T-Connection or 90o Splice Bars (as needed), Cable tray supports

  1. Plan Your Cable Tray Configuration

Determine the required layout, including straight runs, bends, tees, and level changes. Refer to the specific cutting patterns provided in the manual for each modification to ensure proper fit and function.

  2. Cut Cable Tray Sections to Size

Use the Hoffman side action bolt cutter to make precise cuts on the tray wires. Position the cutting jaws on the cradle wire and cut at an angle away from the new end for all side and bottom wires. Make one clean cut to minimize sharp edges that could snag cables and to help protect against corrosion.

  3. Form Bends, Tees, or Elbows

For 90-degree bends, cut side and bottom wires as per the pattern, then bend the tray until inside edges meet and secure with Splice Kits and Splice Washers. For large radius bends, remove specific outside and bottom wires, then bend the tray and fasten the inside with hardware. For elbows, 90-degree tees, or Y-junction tees, cut wires from tray sections according to patterns, align at the desired angle, and fasten securely using Splice Kits and Splice Washers. Use Universal Splice Bars for Y-junctions or width reductions as specified.

  4. Connect Tray Sections

Join straight or modified tray sections using QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washers. Ensure all connections are secure and stable to maintain the integrity of the cable pathway.

  5. Install Cable Tray Supports

Place supports for straight sections at approximately 6-foot (1.5m) intervals. Position supports within 24 inches (610mm) of any splice on straight sections. Add additional supports around bends and where the cable tray changes levels to ensure maximum stability and load bearing capacity.
