How to Install and Modify QUICK TRAY PRO Cable Tray
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for cutting, bending, and connecting sections of QUICK TRAY PRO Cable Tray to create custom cable management installations.
Estimated time: 1h 30m
Tools needed:
Hoffman Side Action Bolt Cutter
Supplies needed:
Splice Kits (QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK), Splice Washers (QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK), Universal Splice Bars (QTPUS10/QTPUS10BLK), T-Connection Splice Bars (QTP90TKIT/QTP90TKITBLK)
- Prepare the Tray for Cutting
Decide which wires must be cut based on your desired configuration. When cutting for a bend, always review the cutting pattern for the tray size and desired bend before cutting. Red areas on the drawings in the manual indicate wires to be removed.
- Execute Tray Cuts
Always use the Hoffman side action bolt cutter to ensure precision cuts and minimize sharp edges. Starting with the top side wire, position the cutting jaws on the cradle wire and make the cut at an angle away from the new end. Cut the remaining side wires, remembering to rest the cutting jaws on the cradle wire and cut at an angle away from the new end. Turn the tray over and cut the bottom wires from the underside, always resting the cutting jaws on the cradle wire and cutting at an angle away from the new end. Make one clean cut to eliminate grinding or touch-up.
- Form a 90-Degree Bend
At the desired bend location, cut all side wires for the width of the cable tray as indicated in the cutting patterns provided in the manual. Turn the tray on the uncut side and smoothly bend the tray up until the inside edges closest to the uncut side meet. Secure the bend by fastening with QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washers at the indicated locations for the tray width.
- Join Tray Sections with Splice Kits
Align the wires of the two tray sections at the desired angle (e.g., for elbows or tees). Fasten the tray sections together using QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washers. For a standard joint, use two splice kits and washers per joint. For adjustable angles, use one splice kit and washer, centered, ensuring each splice washer covers two tray bottom wires.
