How to Install a Pull-Out Shelf Bracket on an Electronic Rack Frame

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing a pull-out shelf bracket and shelf onto an electronic rack frame. It covers mounting the brackets, assembling support components, and installing the shelf.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

M6 Wrench or Driver, 10-32 Screwdriver, Torque Wrench (4.3 Nm / 38 in-lbs capacity)

Supplies needed:

M6 Cagenuts, M6 Screws, 10-32 Clipnuts, 10-32 Screws, Shelf Brackets, Rear Support Bracket, Side Support Bracket, Pull-Out Shelf, Shelf Slides

  1. Install M6 Cagenuts

Install eight M6 cagenuts into the electronic rack frame at the desired height for the shelf.

  2. Attach Shelf Brackets

Attach four shelf brackets to the electronic rack frame. Use two M6 screws for each shelf bracket to secure them firmly.

  3. Attach 10-32 Clipnuts

Attach two 10-32 clipnuts to each shelf bracket.

  4. Install Top 10-32 Screws

Install 10-32 screws into the top-positioned clipnuts. Thread each screw until it is approximately 1/2 inch from being fully tight.

  5. Assemble Rear and Side Support Brackets (Conditional)

If installing on an 800mm deep electronic rack frame, first determine which hole and slot will align. Then, attach a 10-32 clipnut to the rear support and attach the rear support to the side support bracket using 10-32 screws to form the bracket assembly.

  6. Mount Bracket Assembly and Secure

Hang the assembled bracket assembly onto the previously installed 10-32 screws. Install the remaining 10-32 screws into the bottom positions and torque all 10-32 screws to 4.3 Nm (38 in-lbs).

  7. Install Shelf

Extend the shelf slides completely to their locked position. Slightly raise the front of the shelf and place the rear bayonets into the openings on the slides. Finally, lower the front tabs into the openings on the slides.

  8. Verify Slide Operation

Press the latch on the side of the slide to free it for closing. Ensure the shelf slides smoothly in and out.
