How to Install the nVent Hoffman LED Cabinet Light

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for safely installing and wiring the nVent Hoffman LED Cabinet Light in suitable control cabinets, including options for door switches and series connections. This installation should only be performed by an approved electrician.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Wire connectors, Fastening material (appropriate for installation background)

  1. Prepare for Installation

Before starting any work, switch off the main power supply or disconnect the connection lead to prevent electrical shock. Unpack the LED Cabinet Light, check for completeness, and inspect for any loose parts or damage. Do not install if loose parts are present and not explicitly described. Ensure all components are present before proceeding.

  2. Mount the LED Cabinet Light

Mount the LED luminaire securely within a suitable control cabinet. Refer to figures 1-3 for channel mounting or figure 5 for Proline's profile mounting, as illustrated in the product documentation. Use fastening material appropriate for your installation background to ensure the light is firmly fixed and stable.

  3. Connect the Power Supply

Connect the main power supply to the luminaire as illustrated in figures 6 and 7 of the documentation. Ensure all electrical connections are secure, correctly polarized, and comply with all local electrical regulations. This critical step must be performed by an approved electrician to ensure safety and proper operation.

  4. Install Optional Door Switch (if applicable)

If your setup includes a door-operated switch, connect it to the luminaire as shown in figure 8. Be aware that each door-operated switch will only control the specific light unit it is directly connected to.

  5. Connect Multiple Luminaires in Series (if applicable)

For lead-through wiring of multiple luminaires, connect them in series as depicted in figure 9. Do not exceed a maximum of 4 luminaires in series. Ensure the total current, including any devices connected to sockets, does not exceed 16A (or 10A for devices with US sockets).

  6. Verify Installation and Power On

After completing all connections, verify that the LED Cabinet Light is securely fixed and all wiring is correct. Restore power to the unit and check for proper functionality. If any malfunction occurs (e.g., flickering, smoke, burning smell), immediately disconnect power and consult an approved electrician for troubleshooting and repair.
