- An operator adapter is required to install a disconnect in Bulletin A21, A28, A34, A35 and A4L3D HOFFMAN enclosures that have a universal cutout
- Operator adapters include an adapter plate and additional components needed to interlock the master door with the disconnect operating mechanism
- Installation instructions are included with each operator adapter
- Each brand and type of disconnect requires a different operator adapter
- A 400A (or greater) disconnect switch and 600A (or greater) circuit breaker require the large handle
- A 200A (or less) disconnect switch and 400A (or less) circuit breaker require a small handle

How to Install the ECHV Operator Adapter
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the ECHV Operator Adapter for Eaton Cutler-Hammer C361 and C371 mechanisms.

Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Nylon washers, Flat washers, Lockwashers, Hex nuts
- Install the mounting plate
Secure the mounting plate and gasket inside the enclosure behind the rectangular opening. Use four screws and four nylon washers to secure it in place.
- Assemble the handle mechanism
Attach the Cutler-Hammer handle mechanism to the mounting plate installed in step 1. Omit the cap screw and lockwasher that fits into the bottom hole of the handle mechanism.
- Install the slide arm
Position the slide arm over the defeater part of the handle assembly with the notch facing the door opening. Insert the shoulder collar through the oval slot in the slide arm and secure it with a long cap screw and lockwasher.
- Connect the slide arm to the lock release mechanism
Attach the bottom of the slide arm to the offset arm of the lock release mechanism using two flat washers, two lockwashers, and two hex nuts. Do not tighten yet.
- Adjust the slide arm length
Ensure that the safety lock releases just before the master door is fully latched. Adjust the length of the slide arm as necessary.
- Install the door catch
Attach the door catch to the tapped spacer on the door using two screws and lockwashers. This prevents the door from being opened when the handle mechanism is in the 'ON' position.
- Drill and tap holes
Drill and tap holes in the panel according to Eaton Cutler-Hammer instructions for any additional components.
- Mount the switch or circuit breaker
Follow Eaton Cutler-Hammer instructions to mount the switch or circuit breaker, ensuring to cut off the connecting rod assembly as specified.
