How to Install the DPC Power Distribution Unit

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the DPC Power Distribution Unit (PDU) for optimal performance.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors

  1. Mount the PDU

Secure the Power Distribution Unit (PDU) in the rack or cabinet using appropriate mounting hardware. Ensure that the unit is level and firmly attached.

  2. Connect the PDU to Power

Plug the PDU into an appropriately rated and protected branch circuit receptacle. Ensure that the circuit is turned off before making the connection.

  3. Connect to the Network

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the PDU to your network. Ensure that the ferrite core is placed around the Ethernet cable close to the PDU to comply with FCC requirements.

  4. Configure the IP Address

Connect your computer to the PDU using a crossover cable. Set your computer's IP address to 192.168.123.1 and subnet mask to 255.255.255.0. Access the PDU via a web browser at http://192.168.123.123 to configure network settings.

  5. Connect External Sensors (Optional)

If using external sensors, connect them to the PDU. Ensure that the wiring is straight-through and that the sensors are properly recognized by the unit.

  6. Power On Devices

Plug in the devices to be powered by the PDU. Power on the devices sequentially to avoid high inrush current.

  7. Set Up Alarms and Monitoring

Access the Control page on the web interface to configure outlet names, power-on delays, and alarm settings based on your operational requirements.
