This Panduit G5 Basic PDU features (12) C13 outlets. It is a 16 amp, 230 V, single phase PDU with an IEC 60309 2P+E 6h 16A (IP44) input plug and a 10 foot (3m) power cord. The PDU is black. How to Install and Configure a Panduit G5 PDU
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing Panduit G5 Metered, Switched, and Metered & Switched Power Distribution Units (PDUs) into a datacenter rack, including mounting, grounding, power connection, and initial configuration.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Phillips screwdriver, Torx screwdriver
Supplies needed:
Mounting buttons (if applicable), Cage nuts (if applicable), Ground bonding cable, Star washer, Tie wraps
- Mount the PDU in the Rack
Determine the appropriate mounting method for your PDU form factor (vertical 0U, 1U, or 2U). For vertical PDUs, install mounting buttons on the PDU, then insert them into the keyhole slots on the rack's PDU mounting bracket. For 1U or 2U PDUs, install cage nuts at the desired U location, then screw the PDU's mounting bracket ears into the RETMA rail surface. Ensure the PDU is level and firmly secured.
- Connect the Ground Bonding Cable
Locate the external ground bonding point on the PDU chassis. Connect a ground bonding cable from this point to a known earthed reference terminal in the building or to the rack's grounding strip/bus bar. Ensure the connection is secure using the provided external earthing screw and star washer. WARNING: Ensure a reliable grounded (earthed) connection before connecting power distribution products to AC power to reduce the risk of electric shock.
- Connect the PDU to a Power Source
WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, ensure all circuit breakers are in the off position before connecting input power. If installing a Universal Input PDU, first open the input cord connector latches on the PDU, insert the input cord plug, and close the latches to lock it. Turn the feed circuit breaker for the power source OFF. Ensure all circuit breakers on the PDU are set to ON. Connect the PDU's input power cord to an appropriately rated, grounded (earthed) branch circuit electrical outlet. Turn the feed circuit breaker ON. Verify the OLED screen displays the Main Menu and outlet lights (if applicable) power up.
- Configure Universal Input PDU Input Type (if applicable)
If installing a Universal Input PDU, connect to the PDU's Web interface (refer to the User Manual for instructions). Navigate to the 'System Management' page under settings. Select 'Set Input Cord' under actions, then choose the correct cord type from the pull-down menu. Select 'Save' and allow the PDU to reset. Incorrect selection may lead to inaccurate metering and incorrect power rating display.
- Secure Power Cords (Optional)
For C13 and C19 outlets with integrated cord retention, plug in the power cord. Use the provided tie wraps to slide into the notch next to the desired outlet and wrap around the cord, then secure the tie wrap to prevent accidental disconnects. Alternatively, use optional locking power cords on compatible outlets.
