This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Insulated Ground Jumper Kit for bonding cable tray sections in telecommunications.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Grinding tool, Drill, Screwdriver
Supplies needed:
Zinc-based antioxidant, Stainless steel hardware, 2-hole compression lugs
- Prepare the installation area
Locate the area where the kit will be installed and remove all paint, oxidation, and debris from the cable tray surface using a grinding tool.
- Drill holes for compression lugs
Drill two 5/16” diameter holes spaced 5/8” apart on the cable tray surface to accommodate the 2-hole compression lugs. Repeat this step on the opposite side of the cable tray.
- Apply antioxidant and attach jumper
Apply a generous coating of zinc-based antioxidant around the drilled holes on the cable tray surface. Then, attach the jumper to the cable tray using the stainless steel hardware provided.
- Clean up excess material
Wipe off any excess antioxidant material to ensure a clean installation.
- Ensure compliance with UL requirements
Verify that two straps are used per joint to meet UL requirements, ensuring bonding jumpers are installed at every joint including straight, curved, tee, and angular junctions.
