Overview

The nVent Sequestr AXD24 External Disconnect Enclosure (SKU AXD24) is a Type 12-rated, 14-gauge steel enclosure designed to isolate incoming power and mitigate arc flash hazards in industrial electrical systems. Measuring 34.45 inches in height, 14.00 inches in width, and 24.12 inches in depth, this enclosure provides robust protection against falling dirt and dripping water, making it ideal for indoor industrial environments. The AXD24 is UL 508A Listed and meets NEMA/EEMAC Type 12 standards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This enclosure is available in two configurations: as a standalone unit for retrofitting existing nVent A28 and A34 main enclosures, or as a complete package for new installations with pre-mounted disconnect switches, fuse blocks, or circuit breakers. Terminal connections route power to the main enclosure, streamlining installation and maintenance. The continuously welded and ground-smooth seams, along with a powder-coated finish, enhance durability and resistance to industrial conditions. The AXD24 is engineered to enhance electrical safety by isolating power before accessing internal components, reducing the risk of arc flash incidents during maintenance.

How to Install the Sequestr External Disconnect Enclosure

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Sequestr external disconnect enclosure to a control enclosure, ensuring proper mounting, wiring, and initial setup.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Drill, Volt meter, Wire strippers

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Hoffman hole seal, Hoffman blank adapter plate

  1. Power Down the System

Turn off the local disconnect in the control enclosure and the feeder disconnect. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and test for power using a volt meter.

  2. Prepare the Control Enclosure

Remove the existing disconnect from the control enclosure and seal any holes with a Hoffman hole seal. Protect all components inside the control enclosure.

  3. Mount the Sequestr Enclosure

Remove the subpanel from the Sequestr enclosure. Drill a hole for the power line entrance, then hang the Sequestr enclosure on the control enclosure using M6x16mm bolts. Secure with washer head cap screws from inside the control enclosure.

  4. Install Circuit Breaker/Disconnect Switch

Drill mounting holes for the circuit breaker or disconnect switch on the panel. Install the device according to the manufacturer's instructions and secure the panel back into the Sequestr enclosure.

  5. Connect Wiring

Install conduit and connect wires to the incoming side of the circuit breaker/disconnect switch in the Sequestr enclosure. Ensure all connections are secure.

  6. Power Up the System

Remove any protective coverings, ensure the operator handle is in the 'OFF' position, close and latch the Sequestr enclosure door, then turn on the feeder disconnect switch and verify system operation.
