Overview

The nVent Sequestr External Disconnect Enclosure Package (SKU: A72XD7818FTCLP) is a Type 12-rated solution designed to enhance electrical safety in industrial environments by isolating incoming power during maintenance. This pre-configured package includes a main enclosure (72.12" H x 78.50" W x 18.12" D) and an external disconnect enclosure, both constructed from durable mild steel (.121" main, .060" Sequestr) with continuously welded and ground smooth seams. The external disconnect enclosure channels moisture away via a formed body flange, while terminal connections enable clean power transfer to the main enclosure. Key features include arc flash mitigation, integrated disconnect switch and fuse block/circuit breaker, and compliance with UL 508A, cUL, NEMA/EEMAC Type 12, CSA Type 12, and IEC 60529 IP55 standards. Ideal for new installations or retrofits in A28/A34 main enclosures, this package simplifies installation with pre-mounted components and reduces labor time. Trust nVent for reliable, compliant electrical protection.

How to Install the Sequestr External Disconnect Enclosure

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Sequestr external disconnect enclosure to a control enclosure, ensuring proper mounting, wiring, and initial setup.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Drill, Volt meter, Wire strippers

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Hoffman hole seal, Hoffman blank adapter plate

  1. Power Down the System

Turn off the local disconnect in the control enclosure and the feeder disconnect. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and open the control enclosure.

  2. Prepare the Control Enclosure

Remove the existing disconnect from the control enclosure and seal the hole using a Hoffman hole seal. Cover all components inside the enclosure to protect them.

  3. Mount the Sequestr Enclosure

Remove the subpanel from the Sequestr enclosure. Hang the Sequestr enclosure on the control enclosure using M6x16mm bolts and secure it with washer head cap screws from inside the control enclosure.

  4. Install Circuit Breaker/Disconnect Switch

Drill mounting holes in the panel for the disconnect switch. Install the switch according to the manufacturer's instructions and secure the panel back into the Sequestr enclosure.

  5. Connect Wiring

Install conduit and wires to the incoming side of the circuit breaker/disconnect switch in the Sequestr enclosure, ensuring all connections are secure.

  6. Power Up the System

Remove any protective coverings, ensure the operator handle is in the 'OFF' position, close and latch both the Sequestr and control enclosure doors, then turn on the feeder disconnect switch and verify system operation.
