Overview

Enhance electrical safety and operational efficiency with the nVent Sequestr External Disconnect Enclosure Package (SKU: A90XD3EW24FTCLP). This robust solution is engineered to significantly mitigate arc flash hazards when performing maintenance or inspections on interior enclosure components. By providing a secure external point of isolation, the Sequestr package effectively disconnects incoming power from the main electrical enclosure, creating a safer working environment for personnel. Designed for new installations, this package arrives as a single, integrated unit, streamlining the setup process. It features a pre-mounted disconnect switch and fuse block/circuit breaker within the external enclosure. Terminal connections are strategically placed to facilitate a seamless transition of power to the main enclosure, ensuring a clean and organized electrical installation. The durable steel construction, finished in a neutral gray and rated for Type 12 environments, offers reliable protection against dust and falling dirt, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial applications. The primary benefit of the Sequestr External Disconnect Enclosure Package is its proactive approach to arc flash prevention. Arc flash incidents can result in severe injuries, equipment damage, and costly downtime. Implementing this external disconnect dramatically reduces the risk by allowing electricians and technicians to confidently de-energize the main enclosure without compromising the integrity of the overall system. This is particularly critical in industries such as manufacturing, utilities, and data centers where continuous operation and personnel safety are paramount. Key features and benefits include: * **Arc Flash Mitigation:** Isolates incoming power, significantly reducing arc flash hazards during interior maintenance. * **Integrated Package:** Shipped as a single unit for efficient new installations, simplifying procurement and setup. * **Durable Construction:** Made from robust steel with a Type 12 rating, providing protection against environmental contaminants. * **Convenient Isolation:** External disconnect switch and fuse block/circuit breaker for easy and safe power interruption. * **Streamlined Wiring:** Pre-configured terminal connections for straightforward integration with the main enclosure. How to Install the Sequestr External Disconnect Enclosure

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Sequestr external disconnect enclosure to a control enclosure, ensuring proper mounting, wiring, and configuration.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Drill, Volt meter, Wire strippers

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Hoffman hole seal, Hoffman blank adapter plate

  1. Power Down the System

Turn off the local disconnect in the control enclosure and the feeder disconnect. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and open the control enclosure. Test for power on the incoming side of the disconnect using a volt meter.

  2. Prepare the Control Enclosure

Remove the existing disconnect from the control enclosure and seal the existing hole using a Hoffman hole seal. Cover all components in the control enclosure to protect them during installation.

  3. Mount the Sequestr Enclosure

Remove the subpanel from the Sequestr enclosure. Drill a hole for the power line entrance and hang the Sequestr enclosure on the control enclosure using M6x16mm bolts. Secure it with washer head cap screws from inside the control enclosure.

  4. Install the Circuit Breaker

Drill mounting holes for the circuit breaker in the panel and install it according to the manufacturer's instructions. Secure the panel back into the Sequestr enclosure using the saved hex nuts.

  5. Wire the Circuit Breaker

Install conduit and wires to the incoming side of the circuit breaker in the Sequestr enclosure. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.

  6. Power Up the System

Remove any protective coverings from components. Ensure the operator handle is in the 'OFF' position, close and latch the Sequestr enclosure door, then turn on the feeder disconnect switch and flip the operator handle to the 'ON' position.
