Overview

The nVent Screw-Cover Drip-Shield Type 3R Junction Box (SKU: A8R88NK) is a NEMA Type 3R-rated, 8x8x8-inch steel enclosure designed for outdoor wiring protection in harsh environments. Constructed from 16-gauge galvanized steel with ANSI 61 gray polyester powder paint finish inside and out, this junction box resists corrosion and maintains a professional appearance. The screw-cover design features a 3/4-inch overhang drip shield on all sides, preventing moisture intrusion from rain, sleet, or snow while allowing secure access via plated steel screws along the bottom edge. Unlike standard junction boxes, this model has no pre-punched knockouts, enabling contractors to drill custom conduit entries without compromising structural integrity. The enclosure includes embossed mounting holes on the back for direct attachment to strut or mounting surfaces, with optional mounting brackets (included) providing 1-inch clearance to prevent pooling water. UL 50/50E and cULus listed for Type 3R applications, this box is ideal for outdoor lighting systems, HVAC controls, security equipment, irrigation systems, and telecommunications enclosures where NEMA Type 3R compliance is required. Maintains Type 3R rating when mounted horizontally; Type 1 when vertical. Dimensions: 203 x 203 x 203 mm (8x8x8 in).
  • Drip shield top and seam-free sides, front, and back protect from rain, snow, or sleet
