Overview

The nVent A86M5E20G is a robust, free-standing, multi-door Type 12 enclosure designed to safeguard sensitive industrial control and automation systems. Engineered by nVent, a leader in electrical enclosure solutions, this unit offers superior protection against dust, dirt, and dripping water, making it ideal for demanding industrial environments. Its substantial dimensions of 86.13 inches in height, 187.00 inches in width, and 20.12 inches in depth provide ample space for complex electrical layouts and large control panels. This specific model features a five-door configuration, a critical design element for applications requiring mechanical interlocking. Mechanical interlocks are essential in many industrial settings to ensure that only one door can be opened at a time, preventing accidental access to live electrical components and enhancing operational safety. This feature is particularly vital in high-traffic areas or where sequential access to different sections of a control system is mandated by safety protocols. The enclosure is constructed from durable steel, finished in a standard industrial gray, offering both structural integrity and resistance to common industrial wear and tear. The Type 12 rating signifies its suitability for indoor use, providing protection against falling dirt and dripping water, which are prevalent in manufacturing plants, processing facilities, and other industrial settings. The free-standing design allows for flexible placement within a facility, without the need for wall mounting, simplifying installation and maintenance. Key benefits of the nVent A86M5E20G include: * **Enhanced Safety:** The multi-door design with integrated mechanical interlock capability ensures sequential access and prevents simultaneous door openings, crucial for safety in complex electrical systems. * **Superior Protection:** Type 12 rating provides robust protection against dust, dirt, and dripping water, safeguarding critical control equipment. * **Ample Space:** Generous dimensions (86.13" H x 187.00" W x 20.12" D) accommodate large and complex electrical and control systems. * **Durable Construction:** Made from high-quality steel with an industrial gray finish for long-lasting performance in harsh environments. * **Flexible Installation:** Free-standing design offers versatile placement options within industrial facilities. This enclosure is an excellent choice for housing large control systems, PLCs, HMIs, and other essential electrical components in industries such as manufacturing, food and beverage processing, water and wastewater treatment, and power generation. When selecting an enclosure, professionals consider factors like environmental protection ratings, physical dimensions, internal layout requirements, and safety interlocks. The nVent A86M5E20G meets these demands with its combination of size, protection, and safety features, backed by the reliability and quality synonymous with the nVent brand. Its substantial size and multi-door configuration make it a premier solution for consolidating and protecting large-scale industrial electrical infrastructure.

How to Repaint a Hoffman Enclosure

Guide on preparing and repainting Hoffman enclosures with TGIC polyester powder coating.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

180 grit sandpaper, 220 or 240 grit sandpaper (optional), Solvent, Paint manufacturer's recommended tools

Supplies needed:

TGIC polyester powder coated Hoffman enclosure, Paint compatible with TGIC polyester powder coating, Primer (if recommended by paint manufacturer)

  1. Prepare the Surface

Thoroughly sand all enclosure surfaces with 180 grit sandpaper. If sanding marks are objectionable, finish sanding with 220 or 240 grit sandpaper. Wet wipe all surfaces with a solvent to remove any possible contaminants. Consult with your paint manufacturer for proper cure time and hardness prior to testing the paint for adhesion.

  2. Select Appropriate Paint

Choose a paint that exhibits good adhesion properties over polyester powder. Recommended types include two-component epoxies, some two-component polyurethanes, and alkyd baking enamels. If using alkyd finishes, do not bake at temperatures exceeding 150°F to avoid discoloration.

  3. Apply Paint

Apply two or three medium to light coats of paint. Allow two to three minutes flash off between coats. Allow paint to cure adequately according to the paint manufacturer's instructions.

  4. Test Adhesion

After the paint has cured adequately, test the paint for adhesion. Consult with your paint manufacturer for proper cure time and hardness prior to testing.

  5. Test Repainting Process

NOTICE: Always test the repainting process on an inconspicuous area prior to full application.
