How to Install the Panduit FMPS Transmitter Module (PXTM1AF)
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Panduit FMPS Transmitter Module (PXTM1AF) into the Transmitter Chassis and connecting its associated Class 4 wiring to a patch panel. Ensure all safety procedures are followed during installation.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Screwdrivers (#2 Phillips, Slotted), Wire stripper, Wire cutters, Compression crimp tools, Multimeter, Label maker
Supplies needed:
Class 4 Cable (field wiring), Custom Patch Cables, Panduit Ferrules (e.g., FSD78-6-D for 16AWG, FSD76-6-D for 18AWG), Cable ties
- Install the Transmitter Module
Insert the Transmitter Module (PXTM1AF) into an empty slot in the front of the Panduit FMPS Transmitter Chassis. Slide the module forward until it clicks into place. Gently pull the handle to verify the engagement of the latches, ensuring it is securely seated. Always follow safety and lockout/tagout procedures when working on or near electrical systems.
- Wire Class 4 Cables to the Module
Connect the Class 4 cable pairs to the screwed-in Euro-style connector provided with the Transmitter Module. Ensure proper polarity for each connection. Securely tighten the screws on the connector. Only use approved UL Listed Class 4 Cable and follow permissible AWG size ranges to avoid overheating. The voltage rating of the transmission wiring must be a minimum of 450 Vrms @ 75°C.
- Connect to the Patch Panel
Connect the Class 4 cable pairs from the Transmitter Module's Euro-style connector to the appropriate ports on the patch panel. Utilize custom patch cables as needed to bridge the connection. Label both ends of each patch cable with the Transmitter Chassis identifier and its slot number for easy identification and troubleshooting.
