- Prepare Wire Basket Bonding Area
For powder-coated wire baskets (BL or WH), remove any pre-existing bonding tape and ensure paint is removed from the wire basket surface at the splice location to create a proper electrical bond. If installing on electro-zinc (EZ) plated baskets, paint removal is not required as splices can be placed directly over the zinc layer. When possible, utilize pre-existing bonding locations.
- Position the Bolt-On Splice
Place the Bolt-On Splice (PWBSPL**) over the exposed wire area where the bonding tape was removed or the surface was prepared. Ensure the splice is correctly aligned to bridge the connection point between wire basket sections.
- Secure and Torque the Splice
Use an appropriate 7/16 inch nut driver (e.g., FR716DR) to tighten the nuts on the Bolt-On Splice. Torque each nut to 72 in-lbs to firmly secure the splice and establish a reliable electrical bond.
