Overview

The Panduit PSCBLU-L Copper Parallel Splice, SKU PSCBLU-L, is a non-insulated, blue-colored electrical connector designed for reliable parallel splicing of copper conductors. Manufactured by Panduit in the US, this splice features a seamless tubular barrel that ensures a consistent, high-performance crimp and is designed to splice two solid or stranded wires together for repair or lengthening. The brazed seam prevents the terminal barrel from splitting during the crimp process, and an internal wire stop guarantees proper insertion length. This splice is UL and CSA rated up to 2000 V per UL 486C and has a maximum recommended operating temperature of 302°F (150°C). Its blue color coding aids in identification within complex wiring systems. Ideal for telecommunications, data centers, and industrial automation, the PSCBLU-L provides an economical termination when insulation is not required. It is designed for use with Panduit Uni-Die™ Dieless Crimping Tools and is Telcordia NEBS Level 3 tested and American Bureau of Shipping approved (Type SCS).

How to Install the PSCBLU-L Parallel Splice Connector

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and wiring the PSCBLU-L parallel splice connector for copper cables.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Wire strippers, Crimping tool, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

PSCBLU-L connectors, Heat shrink tubing, Electrical tape

  1. Prepare the wires

Strip the insulation from the ends of the copper wires to a length of 7/16 inches, ensuring no wire strands are damaged.

  2. Insert wires into the connector

Insert the prepared wire ends into the PSCBLU-L connector, ensuring that the wires are fully seated and aligned according to the color-coded chart.

  3. Crimp the connector

Use the appropriate crimping tool to securely crimp the connector onto the wires, ensuring a solid electrical connection.

  4. Apply heat shrink tubing

Slide the heat shrink tubing over the crimped connector and apply heat evenly until the tubing tightly conforms to the connector, providing insulation.

  5. Test the connection

Use a multimeter to verify continuity and ensure that the connection is secure and functioning properly.
