How to Install and Configure a Panduit G6 PDU
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for mounting, grounding, connecting, and configuring a Panduit G6 Power Distribution Unit (PDU) in a datacenter rack.

Supplies needed:
Input cord (facility side, for Universal Input PDUs), Ground bonding cable (if supplementary bonding is required)
- Prepare for Installation and Mount the PDU
WARNING: Ensure all circuit breakers are in the off position and verify PDU voltage compatibility before starting. Align and install mounting buttons onto the PDU using screw holes on the face (opposite outlets) or sides, depending on desired orientation. Insert buttons into keyhole slots on the rack's PDU mounting bracket. Ensure the PDU is firmly attached.
- Attach Universal Input Cord (for Universal Input PDUs)
Open the input cord connector latches on the PDU. Insert the facility-side input cord plug into the universal input connector. Close the latches to lock the input cord firmly. NOTE: This step applies only to Universal Input PDUs.
- Ground the PDU
Locate the external ground bonding point on the PDU chassis (typically on the outlet surface, or circuit breaker surface for dual-sided models). Connect a ground bonding cable from this point to a known earthed reference terminal, grounding strip, or bus bar in the rack. Use the provided earthing screw and star washer. Ensure bonding conductor meets minimum AWG requirements. DANGER: For permanently connected PDUs, a licensed electrician must perform this step.
- Connect PDU to Power Source
WARNING: Turn the feed circuit breaker for the branch circuit OFF. Ensure all PDU circuit breakers are ON. Connect the PDU's input power cord to an appropriately rated and grounded (earthed) branch circuit electrical outlet. Refer to the PDU label for input ratings. Turn the feed circuit breaker ON. The PDU's OLED screen will display status, then the Main Menu. Do not overload the PDU.
- Configure Universal Input PDU Input Type (for Universal Input PDUs)
Connect to the PDU's Web interface (refer to User Manual). Navigate to 'System Management' under settings. Select 'Set Input Cord' under actions. From the 'Cord Type Pull Down' menu, select the correct input cord type matching your facility-side cord. Select 'Save'. The PDU will reset. IMPORTANT: Incorrect selection may lead to inaccurate metering and power rating display.

Plug in power cords for your IT equipment into the PDU outlets. For C13 and C19 outlets with integrated cord retention, slide a provided tie wrap into the notch next to the outlet and wrap it around the power cord. Secure the tie wrap to prevent accidental disconnects. Optional locking power cords can also be used.
