How to Install and Configure the Panduit G6 PDU
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for physically installing a Panduit G6 Power Distribution Unit (PDU) in a datacenter rack, connecting its input power, and performing initial configuration via the web interface.
Tools needed:
Phillips screwdriver, Torx screwdriver
Supplies needed:
Mounting buttons, PDU mounting bracket, Input power cord, Ground bonding cable, Tie wraps, Star washer, Grounding strip or bus bar, Appropriately rated branch circuit breaker, Network cable
- Mount the PDU in the Rack
Align and install the mounting buttons with the screw holes on the PDU face opposite the outlets, or on the sides of the PDU, depending on your desired mounting orientation (outlets facing center, back, or front of the rack). Then, install the PDU by inserting the mounting buttons into the keyhole slots on the PDU mounting bracket in the rack.
- Attach the Input Power Cord to the PDU
Open the input cord connector latches on the PDU. Insert the facility-side input cord plug firmly into the universal input connector. Close the input cord connector latches on the PDU to securely lock the input cord into place.
- Connect the Ground Bonding Cable
WARNING: Ensure a reliable grounded (earthed) connection before proceeding. Connect a ground bonding cable from the external ground bonding point on the PDU chassis to a known earthed reference terminal in the building, a grounding strip, or a grounding bus bar in the rack. Use the provided external earthing screw with a star washer for supplementary Earth bonding to the rack metalwork.
- Connect the PDU to a Power Source
WARNING: Ensure all circuit breakers are in the OFF position before connecting input power. Turn OFF the feed circuit breaker for the dedicated branch circuit. Verify that all circuit breakers on the PDU are set to ON. Connect the PDU's input power cord to an appropriately rated and grounded (earthed) branch circuit outlet. Refer to the PDU label for input ratings. Finally, turn ON the feed circuit breaker. The OLED screen (on units with display) will display a status bar during loading, then the Main Menu.
- Configure Universal Input PDU Input Type via Web Interface
Access the PDU's Web interface (refer to the User Manual for connection instructions). Navigate to the 'System Management' page under 'Settings'. Select 'Set Input Cord' under 'Actions'. From the dropdown, select the correct input cord type that matches your installed facility-side cord. Plug in the power cord, then slide a provided tie wrap into the notch next to the outlet and wrap it around the cord. Secure the tie wrap to eliminate accidental disconnects. Alternatively, use optional locking power cords for enhanced security.
