This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing, grounding, connecting, and initially configuring Panduit Metered, Switched, and Metered & Switched Power Distribution Units (PDUs) in a datacenter rack.

Mounting screws, Ground bonding cable, Facility side input cord set
- Install PDU Mounting Hardware
If installing in a non-Panduit rack, align and install the mounting buttons with the screw holes on the PDU face opposite the outlets (for outlets facing center) or on the sides (for outlets facing back/front). Use a Phillips or Torx screwdriver as needed.
- Mount the Vertical PDU in the Rack
Insert the installed mounting buttons into the keyhole slots on the PDU mounting bracket in the rack. Ensure the PDU is securely fastened. For multiple units, ensure all units are installed with outlets facing towards the center of the rack.
- Attach Universal Input Cord
Open the input cord connector latches on the PDU, insert the facility side input cord plug, and then close the latches to lock the cord into the connector. Ensure the cord is firmly secured.
- Ground the PDU
Connect a ground bonding cable to the external ground bonding point on the PDU chassis. This point can be used to bond the PDU to a known earthed reference terminal in the building or to the rack metalwork. Ensure the connection is secure. Refer to the document for minimum bonding conductor requirements based on current rating. HIGH LEAKAGE CURRENT. Ensure a reliable grounded (earthed) connection before connecting power distribution products to AC power.
- Connect PDU to Power Source
WARNING: To reduce the risk of electric shock, ensure the feed circuit breaker is OFF before connecting the PDU. Connect the PDU's input power cord to an appropriately rated, grounded (earthed) branch circuit. Verify all circuit breakers on the PDU are set to ON. Turn the feed circuit breaker ON. The OLED screen (on units with display) will display a status bar when the PDU operating system is loading. When complete, the Main Menu will display on the OLED screen. DANGER: This PDU contains LETHAL VOLTAGES. Installation must be performed by individuals knowledgeable about AC power products.
- Configure Universal Input PDU Type
For Universal Input PDUs, connect to the Web interface (refer to the User Manual). Navigate to 'System Management' under settings, then select 'Set Input Cord' under actions. Choose the correct cord type from the pull-down menu based on your facility side plug and region (refer to the provided table in the manual). Select 'Save' and the PDU will reset. NOTE: Selecting an incorrect input cord may lead to incorrect metering and power rating display.
