Wire snipping tool (CWST), MPT5-8AS Termination Tool, Optional WPT-8 Wire Prep Tool
Supplies needed:
MP588-C Category 5e Modular Plug, Cable jacket
- Prepare the conductors
Remove approximately 1.0" (25.4mm) of cable jacket. Untwist pairs and straighten conductors. Place conductors in the proper sequence (T568A or T568B) and trim conductors to 7/16" (11mm) using the wire snipping tool (CWST).
- Insert conductors into the plug
Insert conductors individually in the proper sequence. Pull conductors until the cable jacket is at the conductor retention slot. Trim conductors flush using the wire snipping tool. Remove the cable from the conductor retention slot, keeping conductors held in position by placing your thumb and forefinger at the cable jacket end.
- Position conductors in guide troughs
Place conductors in the guide troughs, numbered 1-8 from left to right with the latch down. Apply slight downward pressure as you insert conductors until they are fully extended and under the plug contacts.
- Terminate the plug
Place the plug in the MPT5-8AS Termination Tool until it clicks. Maintain pressure by pushing the cable into the plug. Complete termination by closing the die set fully and releasing.
