Overview

The Panduit MLT4DSH-Q is a self-locking cable cleat engineered for robust cable management in demanding industrial environments. This model, SKU MLT4DSH-Q, features a unique self-locking head that allows for rapid installation by securing into any position along the stainless steel band's length, significantly reducing labor time. The cleat's design incorporates a smooth and safe cable banding that passes through the head twice, providing enhanced strength and security, particularly crucial in short circuit applications. Certified to IEC61914:2015 standards, the MLT4DSH-Q has been rigorously tested and proven to withstand peak fault currents up to 75.1kA, ensuring system integrity under extreme conditions. Constructed from durable 304 AISI Stainless Steel, this cable cleat offers superior corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. It boasts an impressive tensile strength of 5340N, capable of securing substantial cable bundles. The variable design of the MLT4DSH-Q makes it highly versatile, offering compatibility with quad, trefoil, and multicore cable configurations. With a maximum bundle capacity of 102mm (4 inches) in diameter, it accommodates a wide range of cable sizes. The cleat's inherent cable range-taking capability simplifies selection and installation, eliminating the need for multiple cleat types for different cable arrangements. For custom-length applications or discrete installations, Panduit offers optional cushion sleeves (e.g., CSB42-150-230-Q1) that provide additional protection and ease of use. The MLT4DSH-Q is manufactured in the USA, ensuring quality and reliability for critical infrastructure projects.

How to Install the MLT Locking Strap Cable Cleat

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the MLT Locking Strap Cable Cleat, ensuring secure cable management on ladder rung systems.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Scissors or shears, PBTMT Installation Tool

Supplies needed:

Cushion sleeve, MLT Strap Cleat, Mounting bolts, Retainer clips

  1. Prepare the cushion sleeve

Cut the cushion sleeve to a suitable length that allows it to wrap around the perimeter of the cables and the bracket. Ensure there is some overlap when fully wrapped.

  2. Wrap the cushion sleeve

Position the cushion sleeve around the cables and the bracket. Wrap it securely, ensuring it maintains its position.

  3. Install the MLT Strap Cleat

Encircle the cable bundle with the MLT Strap Cleat. Insert the tail into the strap cleat head, positioning the head near the top of the cable bundle with the tail end pointing toward you. Pull the tail until taut.

  4. Double loop the strap

Repeat the previous step to create a double loop with the tail of the strap cleat. This is necessary for proper functionality.

  5. Set up the PBTMT tool

Before using the PBTMT tool, review the separate instructions for proper operation. Set the tool tension to match the MLT Strap Cleat being used and align the nose and mandrel slots.

  6. Tension the strap

Press and hold the trigger on the PBTMT tool until it automatically tensions the MLT Strap Cleat and cuts off the excess tail, leaving a flush finish.
