Supplies needed:
LIECA95-8-L connectors, Heat shrink tubing, Wire
- Select the appropriate connector
Choose a LIECA95-8-L connector suitable for the wire size and material. Ensure you do not use a copper connector on aluminum wire.
- Prepare the wire
Strip the wire insulation to the appropriate length without nicking or damaging the conductor strands. Clean the wire to ensure a good connection.
- Insert and crimp the connector
Insert the stripped wire into the connector until it stops. Use the specified crimping tool and die to crimp the connector securely, following the required number of compressions indicated.
- Inspect the crimp
After crimping, inspect the connection for sharp edges, flash, or burrs and remove any imperfections to ensure safety and reliability.
- Apply heat shrink insulation
Cut the heat shrink tubing to the desired length, allowing for a minimum of 1-1/2 inch overlap on the wire insulation. Shrink the tubing using a heat gun or propane torch, moving from the crimped portion toward the insulated wire until adhesive flow at the ends indicates shrinkage is complete.
