How to Install LCDX4/0-12EF-X Copper Compression Connectors
Instructions for installing Panduit copper compression connectors and heat shrink insulation.

Tools needed:
Crimp tool (refer to tool chart for specific model), Wire strippers, Propane torch or heat gun
Supplies needed:
Panduit copper compression connector, Heat shrink tubing
- Select the correct connector and wire
Ensure the LCDX4/0-12EF-X connector is marked for the wire size and material you are using. Never use a copper connector on aluminum wire.
- Prepare the wire
Strip the wire insulation to the approximate length specified in the tool chart. Be careful not to nick or ring the conductor strands. Clean the wire after stripping.
- Insert wire into connector
Insert the stripped wire into the LCDX4/0-12EF-X connector until it reaches the end.
- Crimp the connector
Select the appropriate crimp tool and die based on the connector and wire size from the tool chart. Perform the specified number of crimps, starting near the tongue of the lug and working towards the wire entry. Space crimps evenly.
- Inspect and finish the crimp
After crimping, inspect the connector for any sharp edges, flash, or burrs and remove them if present.
- Apply heat shrink insulation
Cut heat shrink tubing to length, ensuring it will provide adequate coverage with at least 1-1/2 inches of overlap on the wire insulation. Slide the tubing over the crimped connector.
- Shrink the insulation
Use a propane torch or heat gun to shrink the tubing. Move the heat source from the crimped portion of the connector towards the insulated wire. Shrinkage is complete when adhesive flows at the ends.
