How to Install the FVFLPCY Visual Fault Locator
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the FVFLPCY Visual Fault Locator for optimal fiber termination.

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors
- Remove the battery pull tab
Ensure the FVFLY unit is OFF. Remove the slide cover at the rear of the unit and pull the tab to activate the batteries.
- Connect the FVFLPCY to the FVFLY
Attach the ST connector of the FVFLPCY to the FVFLY. Ensure the connection is secure and clean the ST connector before connecting.
- Turn on the FVFLY
Press and hold the ON/OFF button for 2-3 seconds until the green LED illuminates, indicating the unit is powered on.
- Verify fiber contact
Insert the cleaved field fiber into the connector while observing the red glow. Ensure the insertion mark aligns with the ferrule end.
- Crimp the connector
Once optimum contact is achieved and the red glow diminishes, crimp the connector firmly to secure the fiber in place.
- Perform maintenance
Clean the ST connector and ferrule after every 50 matings or if performance diminishes. Use isopropyl alcohol and lint-free wipes.
