This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and terminating the FSTMCXAQ fiber optic connector using the OptiCam Termination Tool.

OptiCam Termination Tool, Fiber Cleaver Tool, Fiber Buffer Stripper, Screwdriver
Supplies needed:
900μm Boots, 250μm Fiber, Isopropyl Alcohol, Dust Caps, Aramid Yarn
- Prepare the Fiber
Strip at least 30mm of coating from the 250μm fiber using the buffer stripper. Clean the bare fiber with an alcohol-soaked lint-free wipe to ensure it is free of debris.
- Cleave the Fiber
Insert the stripped fiber into the cleaver tool and ensure it is positioned correctly. Depress the fiber clamp lever and gently push down on the housing until the fiber breaks cleanly at the 7mm mark.
- Insert Fiber into Connector
Insert the cleaved fiber into the connector body using constant light pressure until it stops on the fiber stub. Ensure the fiber is straight and the insertion mark is visible near the back of the connector.
- Clamp the Cable
Squeeze both clamp arms to open the clamp pads and place the cable between them. Release the clamp arms to secure the fiber in place.
- Turn On the Laser
Toggle the switch on the OptiCam Termination Tool to the 'ON' position. Observe the connector; it should glow dimly if the fiber is correctly positioned.
