- Remove the cable sheath
Mark a length of six feet (2 meters) from the end of the cable on the outer sheath. Use a sheath knife to ring the circumference of the sheath at this mark, then gently flex the cable to separate and remove the sheath.
- Prepare the cable core
Cut the ripcord to expose the buffer tubes. Unwrap and cut the outer strength members and remove any water absorbent tapes or binder strings. Separate the color-coded buffer tubes from the central strength member.
- Prepare the fibers for termination
Using scissors, cut the fibers to the desired length. Strip the primary coating from the fibers using a primary coating stripping tool, and wipe any residual debris with an alcohol-dampened cloth.
