FSPP912Y
This 12 fiber indoor armored cable is OS2, Plenum (OFNP) rated and features 900 m buffered fibers. How to Install the FSDP936Y Fiber Optic Cable
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for preparing and installing FSDP936Y fiber optic cables, including cable preparation, pulling, and termination.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
Sheath knife, Wire strippers, Scissors, Needle nose pliers, Linesmen pliers
Supplies needed:
Cable pulling grip, Vinyl electrical tape, Ripcord, Strength member yarns
- Prepare the cable
Using a sheath knife, ring the outer jacket of the cable at the designated length, typically six to eight inches from the end. Flex the cable to separate and remove the outer jacket.
- Install the pulling grip
Select the appropriate size pulling grip based on the cable diameter. Inspect the grip for damage, then attach it securely to the cable by smoothing out the mesh and tightening the wires.
- Pull the cable
Using a pulling mechanism, carefully pull the cable through the designated pathway. Ensure that the pulling force does not exceed the cable's maximum tensile load to avoid damage.
- Prepare fibers for termination
Using an approved stripping tool, remove the tight-buffered coating from the fibers, exposing the fiber for termination. Strip no more than two inches at a time to prevent damage.
- Terminate the fibers
Follow local splicing/termination guidelines to attach connectors to the exposed fibers. Ensure that all connections are secure and properly aligned.
