The Polaris IPLMD350-6 Multi-Tap Mountable Dual-Sided Entry Connector features 6 ports sized for 350 MCM - 6 AWG wires. Mounting holes on either side of the connector allow for direct mounting to troughs, panels or wireways with 1/4†bolts. The body is made from aluminum alloy wrapped in a layer of plastisol insulation. Each dual-sided port is pre-loaded with an oxide inhibitor, with removable access plugs over the hex screws used to tighten the connections. Installs with a hex key and torque wrench, without any tape or additional supplies. Designed for use in a wide range of splicing applications, including installation in cable trays, panel boards, ducts, raceways or troughs.

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and setting up the OptiCam 2 Termination Tool for fiber optic terminations.

Supplies needed:
Size AA Lithium Iron Disulfide batteries, Cleaning wipes, Dust caps
- Insert the batteries
Remove the battery cover on the rear of the tool and insert two size AA Lithium Iron Disulfide batteries, ensuring correct alignment.
- Remove protective film
Carefully remove the protective film cover from the camera aperture and LCD screen to ensure clear visibility.
- Power on the tool
Press the center of the selector switch once to power up the tool, then select your preferred language on the LCD screen.
- Set up the tool
Select the correct launch cord, cradle, and tool settings for your termination type. Make sure to save your selections.
- Clean the launch cord
Remove the adapter and alignment sleeve from the launch cord and clean both ends thoroughly before loading it onto the tool.
- Load the connector
Insert the connector into the appropriate adapter and cradle, ensuring it is properly seated and aligned.
- Prepare the fiber
Slide the boot onto the cable, then strip the buffer in 1/8” (3mm) increments up to the strip mark on the buffer.
- Cleave the fiber
Cleave the bare fiber to a length of 7mm using the cleaving tool, ensuring a clean cut for optimal termination.
- Insert the fiber
Insert the fiber into the rear of the connector until the insertion mark aligns, then proceed to the camming step.
- Cam the connector
While applying forward pressure on the fiber, cam the connector according to its type (LC, SC, or ST) until it fully stops.
- Perform Insertion Loss calculation
Click the selector switch once to perform the Insertion Loss calculation. If the connector passes, proceed to the next step.
- Finalize the termination
Remove the connector from the tool, replace the dust cap, and slide the boot onto the rear of the connector.
