How to Install the Fibre Splice Tray

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the Fibre Splice Tray, ensuring proper cable management and splicing.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Sheath knife, Fusion splicer, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Fibre pigtails, Splice protection sleeves, Labels

  1. Prepare the enclosure

Install LC Mini-Com Fibre Adapters into the front of each drawer and place the slack spool and splice holder into each drawer as per the dimensions provided.

  2. Install the fibre cable

Pull the fibre cable through the enclosure housing, run it through the knockout, and secure it with a PG11 type gland. Ensure that approximately 1 inch of sheath is visible past the end of the gland.

  3. Label and install pigtails

Label the fibre pigtails 1 through 8, then install the fibre connectors into the adapters after cleaning them according to the recommended guidelines.

  4. Perform fibre splicing

Slide splice protection sleeves over one end of the fibres to be spliced, clean the fibres, and cleave them according to the splice manufacturer’s instructions. Use the fusion splicer to splice the fibres and secure them in the fibre splice chip.

  5. Finalize installation

Once all fibres are spliced and secured, place the splice chip cover over the manifold, label it appropriately, and replace the completed tray back into the enclosure.
