Overview

The Panduit FHSXO-12-10R HD FLEX LC Splice Cassette is a preloaded, high-density fiber optic solution designed for efficient and reliable multimode network deployments. This cassette integrates a 12-fiber OM3 ribbon pigtail with 250µm buffer coating, optimized insertion loss (IL), and six duplex LC adapters in aqua color with zirconia sleeves for superior signal integrity. Engineered for compatibility with Panduit’s modular splice cassette systems, the FHSXO-12-10R ensures seamless integration into existing infrastructure while maximizing fiber density and minimizing installation time. Key specifications include OM3 multimode fiber optimized for 10G applications, supporting distances up to 300 meters at 10Gbps. The cassette features a compact design with integrated cable management, protecting splices from dust and mechanical stress. The zirconia sleeves in the LC adapters provide low insertion loss and high return loss, critical for high-speed data transmission. The aqua color coding aligns with TIA/EIA standards for multimode fiber, ensuring quick identification and reducing human error during deployment. Ideal for data centers, enterprise networks, and campus backbones, the FHSXO-12-10R simplifies fiber management by preloading the pigtail and adapters, eliminating the need for on-site splicing in many scenarios. The modular design allows for easy upgrades or reconfigurations, supporting future scalability without replacing the entire cassette. Panduit’s HD FLEX system ensures compatibility with a wide range of enclosures and splice holders, providing flexibility for diverse installation requirements. The cassette is manufactured in the US, adhering to Panduit’s rigorous quality standards for reliability and performance.

How to Install the FHSXO-12-10R HD Flex LC Splice Cassette and Fiber Adapter Panel (FAP)

Installation guide for mounting and wiring the FHSXO-12-10R HD Flex LC Splice Cassette and Fiber Adapter Panel (FAP).

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Lint-free tissue, Isopropyl alcohol

Supplies needed:

Pan-Ty Cable Ties, Splice sleeves

  1. Prepare the incoming field cable

Strip the outer jacket of the incoming field cable by 20 inches. Secure the cable with Pan-Ty Cable Ties and Kevlar with a screw if applicable. The maximum cable diameter is 7.4mm.

  2. Prepare fibers for splicing

Expose all fiber ends for splicing. Slide a splice sleeve onto either the pigtail or field fiber. Strip approximately 35mm of coating from each fiber. Wipe the bare fiber with a lint-free tissue soaked with isopropyl alcohol. Cleave the fiber so that 10mm of bare fiber extends past the fiber coating.

  3. Splice and route fibers

Splice all fibers and heat the splice sleeve(s) according to the splicer manufacturer's instructions. Route the spliced fibers into the cassette, ensuring they are located under the routing tabs. Secure the splice sleeves within the splice organizer.

  4. Install patch cords and close cassette

Remove the cover and internal dust caps from the cassette. Install patch cords and route cables as shown in Figure 2. Re-install the cover.
