Screwdriver, Lint-free tissue, Isopropyl alcohol
Supplies needed:
Pan-Ty Cable Ties, Splice sleeves
- Prepare the incoming field cable
Strip the outer jacket of the incoming field cable by 20 inches. Secure the cable with Pan-Ty Cable Ties and Kevlar with a screw if applicable. The maximum cable diameter is 7.4mm.
- Prepare fibers for splicing
Expose all fiber ends for splicing. Slide a splice sleeve onto either the pigtail or field fiber. Strip approximately 35mm of coating from each fiber. Wipe the bare fiber with a lint-free tissue soaked with isopropyl alcohol. Cleave the fiber so that 10mm of bare fiber extends past the fiber coating.
- Splice and route fibers
Splice all fibers and heat the splice sleeve(s) according to the splicer manufacturer's instructions. Route the spliced fibers into the cassette, ensuring they are located under the routing tabs. Secure the splice sleeves within the splice organizer.
- Install patch cords and close cassette
Remove the cover and internal dust caps from the cassette. Install patch cords and route cables as shown in Figure 2. Re-install the cover.
