How to Install the FCP9SP-2323GG PON Splitter Tray

Installation guide for mounting and connecting the FCP9SP-2323GG PON Splitter Tray.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Safety glasses

Supplies needed:

#12-24 x 1/2" screws, M6 x 1 x 15mm screws, Fiber management spool, Strain relief bracket, Input grommet, Pan-Ty Cable Ties, #10-32 x 5/16" screws, #10-32 hex nut, Splice holder, Splice protector

  1. Mount the PON Splitter Tray

Mount the PON Splitter Tray to the rack using either (4) #12-24 screws or (4) M6 x 1 screws. Ensure the tray is securely fastened.

  2. Prepare for Splice Connection (if applicable)

For splice ready models, remove the access cover by unscrewing the two screws. Remove the splice accessories kit. Unwrap the required length of input fiber from the fiber management spool, leaving the last coil attached with adhesive tape.

  3. Prepare Cable Entry

Remove the rear or side knockout for cable entry. Cut a hole or straight lines in the center of the input grommet for the cable and install the prepared grommet in the knockout opening.

  4. Install Strain Relief and Splice Holder

Secure the strain relief bracket to the tray using a #10-32 screw and #10-32 nut. Mount the splice holder to the tray using the peel-away adhesive on the bottom.

  5. Prepare and Connect Incoming Cable

Strip 7" of the cable jacket from the incoming cable. Install the cable through the input grommet and secure it to the strain relief bracket with a cable tie. Secure the cable strength members (e.g., kevlar) to the tie-down with a #10-32 screw.

  6. Perform Fusion Splice

Slide the splice protector over the input fiber. Fusion splice the incoming fiber from the cable to the PON Splitter Tray input fiber, following industry standard procedures. Secure the connection with a splice protector. If applicable, repeat for a second input.

  7. Organize and Secure Fiber

Insert the splice protector(s) into the slot(s) of the splice holder. Route the fiber, re-wrapping loose fiber around the fiber management spool if necessary. Replace the access cover and secure it with the two #10-32 screws.

  8. Label Ports

Use the white rectangles on the cover for port identification. For TIA-606-B compliance, adhesive labels can be applied over the white rectangles.
