How to Install the Opticom Rack Mount Fiber Cassette Enclosure (FCE4U)
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the Opticom Rack Mount Fiber Cassette Enclosure (FCE4U) for optimal fiber management.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
#12-24 x 1/2" screws, M6x1 screws, #10-32 x 3/8" screws, #10-32 hex nuts, Grommets, Strain relief brackets, Cable ties
- Mount the enclosure
Position the enclosure mounting brackets at the desired location on the rack. Secure the enclosure using four #12-24 x 1/2" screws or M6x1 screws if mounting to a metric rack.
- Install the grommet
Determine the size of the innerduct to be used and cut the appropriate grommet opening. Install the grommet at the chosen cable entry location after the enclosure is mounted.
- Secure the strain relief bracket
Install the strain relief bracket near the cable entry point. Secure it using a #10-32 x 3/8" screw and a #10-32 hex nut to ensure proper cable management.
- Insert fiber optic cassettes
Insert the Opticom QuickNet Pre-Terminated Fiber Optic Cassettes into the enclosure. Ensure they are fully seated and secured with NyLatches.
- Route fiber cables
Route the fiber cables through the grommet to the fiber cassettes. Leave enough slack to prevent tension when the drawer is fully extended.
- Install slack spools
Place slack spools over the #10-32 studs on the sliding tray and secure them with #10-32 hex nuts or adhesive mounts, ensuring the correct orientation.
- Complete the installation
Reinstall the front and rear door assemblies if removed. Attach the Laser Warning Label and Caution Label where they are clearly visible.
