How to Terminate Panduit Fiber Optic Connectors onto 250 Micron Coated Fiber

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for terminating Panduit fiber optic connectors onto 250μm coated fiber using the appropriate techniques.

Buffer stripper, Crimp tool, Alcohol wipes

Supplies needed:

900μm boot, Build-up tube (F250BT), Adhesive, Connector

  1. Prepare the fiber

    Place the 900μm boot onto the 250μm fiber, then slide one build-up tube (F250BT) onto the fiber and move it back out of the way.

  2. Strip the fiber coating

    Mark and strip the 250μm coating according to the appropriate 900μm Buffered Stripping Dimensions, ensuring to remove at least 30mm of coating.

  3. Insert the fiber into the connector

    Insert the stripped fiber into the back of the connector until the build-up tube bottoms out. Ensure the insertion mark on the build-up tube is hidden within the connector.

  4. Secure the fiber

    Squeeze the clamp arms to open the clamp pads, place the fiber between the pads, and release the arms while creating a slight bow in the fiber for proper mating pressure.

  5. Complete the termination

    Turn on the laser and follow the connector termination instructions provided in the appropriate instruction sheet to finalize the process.
