How to Operate the CP-991-KIT025 Automatic Wire Stripping and Ferrule Crimping Press

Instructions for operating the CP-991-KIT025 for automatic wire stripping and ferrule crimping. Ensure you read the full manual before operation.

Screwdriver, Hexagonal wrench, Wire strippers

Supplies needed:

Ferrules, PVC-insulated conductors

  1. Select Installation Site

    Choose a level, horizontal surface for the CP-991. Avoid humid, dusty, or extreme temperature locations (operating range: 15°C to 35°C). Protect from vibrations and shocks. If moving from a cold to a warm location, open the front door to allow condensation to evaporate before use.

  2. Determine and Set Cross Section

    Verify that the CP-991 is equipped for the desired conductor cross section. If necessary, upgrade the CP-991 with the appropriate retrofit kit. Refer to the 'Retrofitting' section for details.

  3. Prepare for Stripping and Crimping

    WARNING: Disconnect the main plug and compressed air before opening the front door. Switch off the CP-991 using the main switch, disconnect the main plug, and disconnect the compressed air connection. Open the front door. Check that the sleeve receiver and fine stranded wire centering funnel are adjusted for the conductor cross section. Modify if necessary. Ensure the sleeve receiver is free from ferrules.

  4. Perform Stripping or Stripping and Crimping

    For stripping only, insert the conductor into the insertion funnel. For stripping and crimping, ensure the correct ferrules are loaded and the sleeve receiver is correctly adjusted. Insert the conductor into the insertion funnel. The CP-991 will automatically strip and, if configured, crimp the ferrule.

  5. Adjust Air Pressure

    Set the compressed air pressure using the air pressure regulator. The manometer will display the set pressure. Ensure the pressure is within the specified range (CP-991: 4.5-6 bar; CP-992: 5-6 bar).

  6. Select Operating Mode

    Use the control panel to select the desired operating mode: 'Strip only' or 'Strip and crimp'. The corresponding LED will illuminate.

  7. Manage Feeder Bowl Speed

    If needed, adjust the speed of the feeder bowl for filling new ferrules using the arrow buttons on the control panel. The speed is displayed as a percentage.

  8. Reset Counter (Optional)

    To reset the counter to zero, press and hold the set/reset button for two seconds. To change the counting direction, press and hold for five seconds.
