Supplies needed:
Ferrules, Wire
- Select the appropriate die
Choose the correct die part number (CD-920-FXX) based on the ferrule size and desired crimp type. Refer to the 'CRIMP POCKET GO/NO GO GAGE DIMENSIONS' table for specifications.
- Install the die into the crimping tool
Insert the selected die into the compatible Panduit crimping tool. Ensure it is securely seated.
- Prepare the wire and ferrule
Strip the wire to the appropriate length. Slide the ferrule onto the wire, ensuring the funnel end is facing the wire end.
- Perform a single crimp
Place the ferrule and wire into the die cavity of the crimping tool. Perform a standard crimping action. For single crimps, ensure the ferrule funnel is against the die set and the cable insulation is against the funnel.
- Perform a double crimp (if applicable)
For 1 AWG wire using F87-18 ferrules, after the initial crimp, remove the ferrule, rotate it 180 degrees, re-insert it, and re-crimp the ferrule.
- Verify the crimp
Use the Go/No-Go gage corresponding to your die part number to verify the diameter of the crimped ferrule. The crimp should pass the 'GO' dimension and fail the 'NO GO' dimension.
