- Install the die
Open the tool handles fully and insert the selected die into the recess in the tool head, ensuring the compression pocket faces the jaw. Tighten the die retention screw firmly.
- Adjust the tool
Place the tool on a flat surface and close the handles until the jaw just contacts the die. Measure the distance between the grips; it should be between 10" and 13". Adjust the screw as necessary to achieve this range.
- Perform a visual inspection
Inspect the tool for any missing or loose parts, and check the dies for any signs of wear or damage. If any issues are found, contact your local Panduit Sales Office for repair or replacement.
- Connect the wire
Insert the stripped end of the wire into the connector, ensuring it is fully seated. Place the connector in the compression pocket of the die.
- Compress the connector
Completely close the handles of the tool to compress the connector onto the wire. If multiple compressions are required, repeat this step as necessary.
- Calibrate the tool
Using precision calipers, measure the die pocket after closing the handles fully. Compare the measurement to the die closure range table to ensure it is within specifications.
