Overview

The NSi Industries 1/2" Stem & Swivel Pencil Ballast (SKU 2022) is a UL-listed photocontrol designed for precise outdoor and industrial lighting automation. Engineered for 208-277V AC systems at 50/60Hz, this ballast supports tungsten filament loads from 3470-4620W and LED loads from 2080-2770VA, with a fail-safe ON mode for safety-critical applications. The 180° swivel design enables accurate aiming of the cadmium sulphide photocell, which is conformal-coated for moisture and contaminant resistance, ensuring reliable operation in harsh environments. The Lexan® housing is impact and vandal-resistant, with ultrasonic welding for maximum durability, while the translucent Lexan dome screens UV rays to extend cell life. The unit activates at 1-5 foot-candles (fc) and deactivates at 3-15fc, with a built-in 2-minute delay to prevent false triggering from transient light sources like passing vehicles or lightning. Three color-coded 6" #16AWG leads rated to 105°C simplify wiring, and the device consumes under 1W during operation. Certified to ANSI/UL773A, this ballast is ideal for flood lamps, patio lighting, and decorative fixtures where directional light sensing is critical. Backed by a 5-year warranty, it delivers energy-efficient, low-maintenance lighting control for commercial, industrial, and municipal applications.
