How to Install the FT100C-A Weather Resistant Telephone
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the FT100C-A Weather Resistant Telephone, ensuring reliable communication in harsh environments.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors
- Prepare the mounting location
Choose a wall location free of obstructions and capable of supporting the weight of the telephone. Use the provided template to mark and drill holes for mounting screws.
- Mount the telephone
Secure the FT100C-A telephone to the wall using #10 or M5 screws. If mounting on plaster or cement, use anchors for a firm grip. Ensure the unit is level and firmly attached.
- Connect the wiring
Remove the wiring access cover plate. Bring the telephone cable into the enclosure through the conduit entrance and connect the Tip, Ring, and Ground wires to the surge arrestor. Ensure that the Tip and Ring are connected correctly as they are not polarity sensitive.
- Secure the faceplate
Loosen the five captive screws in the faceplate and swing it to the left. Ensure the internal wiring is undisturbed, then replace the faceplate and tighten the screws without overtightening.
- Test the installation
Check for loose screws and trapped wires. Ensure the handset hangs freely in the cradle. Call to and from another unit on the exchange to verify proper operation.
- Set the dialing mode (if necessary)
If pulse dialing is required, loosen the five captive screws in the faceplate, change the Tone/Pulse jumper on the circuit board to Pulse, then replace the faceplate and tighten the screws.
