How to Install the FT200C-A Weather Resistant Telephone
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the FT200C-A telephone for use in hazardous locations.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors
- Mount the telephone
Use the provided template to drill holes for mounting screws. Secure the unit to the wall using #10 or M5 screws, ensuring it is level and can support the weight.
- Connect the wiring
Remove the wiring access cover plate. Bring the cable into the enclosure through the conduit entrance and attach the individual wires (Tip/Ring/Ground) to the surge arrestor. Ensure that the Tip and Ring are connected correctly, as they are not polarity sensitive.
- Verify installation
Replace the wiring access cover plate. Check for loose screws and ensure the handset hangs freely in the cradle. Verify that the faceplate is snug against its gasket and that the door closes flush to the housing.
- Connect the conductors
Connect the Tip and Ring conductors at the demarcation block. Ensure that the area is safe and that the power conductors are not live before proceeding.
- Test the telephone
Call to and from another unit on the exchange to test the functionality of the telephone.
- Set dialing mode (if needed)
If pulse dialing is required, disconnect the wiring at the demarcation block. Loosen the five captive screws in the faceplate, swing it open, and change the Tone/Pulse jumper on the circuit board to Pulse. Replace the faceplate and screws carefully.
