How to Install the EM3 Extension Module
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and wiring the EM3 Extension Module to enhance the SelecTone signaling devices.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors
- Select a mounting location
Choose a flat surface for mounting the EM3 Extension Module, ensuring it is accessible for wiring and maintenance.
- Join the EM3 to the SelecTone
Loosen the screws on the covers of both the EM3 and SelecTone, remove the covers, and connect the supplied connector board in place of the tone module in the SelecTone.
- Connect wiring between modules
Feed the blue, yellow, and white 18 AWG wires from the EM3 through the nipple to the SelecTone, and connect them to the corresponding wires on the connector board using wire nuts.
- Secure the modules
Align the rear of the housings against the mounting surface, mark the positions using the mounting holes as a template, and secure the modules with #10 x 1-inch screws or bolts as appropriate.
- Connect power to the EM3
Run wires from an external power source to the terminal strip at the bottom of the EM3, connecting the power leads to the appropriate terminals as per the wiring diagram.
- Reinstall covers
After all connections are made, reinstall the covers on both the EM3 and SelecTone using the screws removed earlier.
- Test the installation
Ensure that the power is off, then test the sound system for proper operation after installation is complete.
