Overview
The ABB FMBT-21 Ethernet adapter (SKU: FMBT-21-KIT) facilitates seamless communication for ABB's common architecture drives using the Modbus TCP/IP protocol. This vendor-neutral protocol ensures broad compatibility. The adapter features an integrated Ethernet switch, enabling flexible network configurations such as star topology or daisy-chaining, simplifying wiring and reducing complexity. It also supports the Modbus/UDP protocol, offering alternative communication options. Physical connectivity utilizes twisted pair cabling in a star topology. The FMBT-21 supports data transfer rates of 10 and 100 Mbit/s, with a minimum periodic I/O (RPI) of 5 ms, ensuring responsive control. Network speed is automatically detected, streamlining setup. This adapter is compatible with ABB's Drive Composer Pro software, which is essential for initial configuration, parameter setting, and ongoing maintenance of compatible ABB drives. The FMBT-21 acts as a Modbus TCP server, specifically supporting ABB drive profiles for efficient data exchange and control. Manufactured in Denmark (DK), this kit provides a reliable and efficient method for integrating ABB low voltage drives into Ethernet-based industrial networks.

FENA-21
The FENA 21 DualPort module supports Three protocols Modbus-TCP, EtherNet/IP, and the PROFInet IO RT network. The Modbus-TCP protocol is simply the Modbus protocol used on top of Ethernet-TCP/IP. Modbus-TCP is an open Industrial Ethernet network which has been specified by the Modbus-IDA User Organization. EtherNet/IP is based on the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP), which is also the framework for both the ControlNet and DeviceNet network protocols. PROFInet IO RT is an open network based on the PI Organization standard.
