1/2 Inch, Straight, One-Piece Liquidtight Non-Metallic Fitting, CSA, UL E32447, Temperatures up to 60 Degrees C, PVC, GreyHow to Install T&B Liquidtight Flexible Metallic Conduit Connectors with Grips
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of T&B liquidtight flexible metallic conduit connectors with grips, ensuring high performance and reliability.
Tools needed:
Hacksaw (32 Tooth/In no set, sharp) or Power Band Saw, Flat Nose Pliers (optional, for preforming mesh), Torque Wrench (or Wrench)
Supplies needed:
T&B Liquidtight Connector with Grip, Liquidtight Flexible Metallic Conduit, T&B 140 Series Locknuts (for knockout applications, if needed), T&B 5262 Series Sealing O-rings (for knockout applications, if needed)
- Prepare the Flexible Conduit
Cut the flexible conduit with a clean, square end cut. Use a sharp hacksaw (32 teeth/inch, no set) or a power band saw (24-32 teeth/inch, wavy set, not exceeding 400 surface feet per minute). CAUTION: Do not use an abrasive wheel for cutting.
- Slide Grip and Gland-Nut onto Conduit
Slide the grip with the gland-nut assembly onto the conduit. If installing at maximum cord diameter, preform the endless weave mesh by carefully forming each loop round using flat nose pliers.
- Position Sealing Ring
Slide the one-piece sealing ring onto the conduit, ensuring it is oriented correctly.
- Screw Ground Cone into Conduit
Screw the SAFE-EDGE® steel grounding cone tightly into the conduit.
- Seat Sealing Ring
Push the sealing ring towards the ground cone and firmly seat it into the ground cone flange.
- Insert Ground Cone into Connector Body
Insert the assembled ground cone into the main body of the liquidtight connector.
- Tighten Gland Nut and Grip Assembly
Push the end of the grip along the conduit towards the connector body and screw the gland nut onto the body. Tighten the gland nut to the specified torque (refer to the torque table in the product documentation; e.g., 200 lb-in for 3/8" trade size, 700 lb-in for 1" trade size). After tightening, check that the grip is laying flat and fully extended along the conduit. For knockout applications, use T&B 140 Series locknuts and 5262 Series sealing o-rings (purchased separately).
