How to Install T&B Liquidtight Flexible Metallic Conduit Connectors
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of T&B Liquidtight connectors with grips onto flexible metallic conduit, ensuring high performance and reliability.
Tools needed:
Hacksaw (32 tooth/inch), Power band saw (24-32 tooth/inch), Flat nose pliers
Supplies needed:
Metal liquid tight conduit, T&B Liquidtight connector with grip, T&B 140 Series locknuts (optional for knockout applications), T&B 5262 Series sealing o-rings (optional for knockout applications)
- Cut Flexible Conduit
Cut the flexible conduit with a clean, square end. Use a 32 tooth/inch no-set sharp hacksaw, or for high production, a 24-32 tooth/inch wavy set power band saw (not more than 400 surface feet per minute). Ensure to use metal liquid tight conduit. CAUTION: Do not use an abrasive wheel.
- Slide Grip and Gland Nut
Slide the grip with the gland-nut onto the conduit. For maximum cord diameter, preform the endless weave mesh by carefully forming loops round using flat nose pliers.
- Position Sealing Ring
Slide the sealing ring onto the conduit.
- Screw in Ground Cone
Screw the Safe-Edge steel grounding cone tightly into the conduit.
- Seat Sealing Ring into Flange
Push the sealing ring towards the ground cone and firmly seat it into the ground cone flange.
- Insert Ground Cone
Insert the ground cone assembly into the connector body.
- Tighten Gland Nut
Push the end of the grip along the conduit towards the connector body and screw the gland nut onto the body. Tighten the gland nut to the specified torque (refer to the torque table in the original document for specific trade sizes). After tightening, verify that the grip is laying flat and fully extended along the conduit. For knockout applications, use T&B 140 Series locknuts and 5262 Series sealing o-rings (purchase sealing ring separately).
