Supplies needed:
ST300-481SS Cable Fitting, Armored cable
- Disconnect Power and Select Fitting
WARNING: Disconnect all power before beginning installation to prevent risk of electrical shock. CAUTION: Ensure installation is performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Select the appropriate ST300-481SS fitting that accommodates your enclosure and the armored cable being used.
- Prepare the Armored Cable
Determine the required working length of the conductor inside the enclosure or device. Carefully remove a portion of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Using a hacksaw, cut the armor and trim the outer jacket to achieve an exposed armor strip length of 2-1/2 inches, as indicated for the ST300-481SS. CAUTION: Do not nick or cut the conductor insulation during this process.
- Insert Cable and Secure Fitting
Feed the prepared cable through the gland nut opening of the fitting. Push the cable until its armor firmly hits the internal end stop. Tighten the gland nut using a torque wrench until an appropriate seal is obtained, or to a maximum torque of 1600 in-lbs for the ST300-481SS. Ensure the bushing seals evenly around the cable's outer jacket and the cable remains centered to obtain an optimal seal.
