This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of Star Teck™ PVC cable fittings, ensuring a secure and sealed connection for armored cables. Follow these steps for safe and effective installation.

Star Teck™ PVC cable fitting, Armored cable, Wire pulling lubricant (optional, Cat. No. 15-236)
- Select the Appropriate Fitting
Choose the appropriate Star Teck™ PVC cable fitting that matches the enclosure and the cable you are using. Refer to the assembly diagrams and the provided table in the documentation for specific product specifications and compatibility.
- Prepare the Cable
Determine the required working length of the cable. Remove a portion of the outer jacket to expose the cable armor. Use a hacksaw to carefully cut the armor, then trim the outer jacket to achieve the exposed armor strip length as indicated in the product table (refer to Figures 1 and 2 in the documentation). WARNING: Risk of shock, disconnect power before installation.
- Cut the Cable Boot
Determine the correct cutting point for the cable boot. You can either unscrew the gland nut from the body, force the square-cut cable into the boot, and then cut the boot in front of the cable (Method 1, Figure 3A). Alternatively, strip the cable jacket off the armor, and progressively cut slices off the boot until the opening can snugly slide onto the armor (Method 2, Figure 3B). CAUTION: Do not over strip the boot; there should be no gaps between the boot and the cable jacket.
- Insert Cable into Gland Nut
Feed the prepared cable through the gland nut opening. Push the cable firmly until its armor hits the internal end stop of the fitting (Figure 4). The use of wire pulling lubricant (Cat. No. 15-236) will allow easier installation.
- Tighten the Gland Nut
Tighten the gland nut using strap wrenches only (as PVC coated fittings require). Continue tightening until an appropriate seal is obtained or to the maximum torque specified in the product table (refer to Figure 5). Ensure the bushing seals evenly around the cable's outer jacket and that the cable remains centered to achieve an optimal seal. CAUTION: Product should be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes.
