Star Teck™ Cable Fitting (ST250-478SS), Armored Cable, Enclosure or Device
- Select the Appropriate Cable Fitting
Select the correct Star Teck™ cable fitting (e.g., ST250-478SS) that is compatible with both the enclosure and the armored cable you are using. Refer to the product table for specific dimensions and ranges. WARNING: Disconnect power before installation. CAUTION: This product must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes.
- Prepare the Armored Cable
Determine the working length of the conductor required inside the enclosure or device. Carefully remove a portion of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Use a hacksaw to cut the armor to the appropriate strip length, then trim the outer jacket to adjust the exposed armor strip length as indicated in the product table. CAUTION: Do not nick or cut the conductor insulation during this process.
- Insert Cable into the Gland Nut
Feed the prepared armored cable through the gland nut opening of the fitting. Push the cable inward until the cable armor firmly hits the internal end stop of the fitting.
- Secure and Seal the Fitting
Tighten the gland nut using a wrench until an appropriate seal is obtained, or to the maximum torque specified in the product table. Verify that the bushing seals evenly around the cable's outer jacket and that the cable remains centered within the fitting to achieve an optimal seal.
