Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Insulating gloves
Supplies needed:
Electrical cable, Cable plug
- Prepare the Rocket (if necessary)
For 300/350 kcmil cables, remove the rocket as it is not required. For #12 to 250 kcmil cables, cut the rocket at the marked ring. Reinsert the rocket if it was cut and is required for your cable size.
- Prepare the Cable
Measure the required strip length by aligning the cable with the markings on the connector's tower. Strip the cable to this measured length.
- Insert the Cable
Insert the prepared cable into the appropriate opening (the tower for 300-350 kcmil or the rocket for #12-250 kcmil) until the end of the conductor firmly touches the internal window.
- Remove the Screw Plug
Locate the screw plug and remove it by pulling its tether.
- Secure the Connection
Using a screwdriver, tighten the screw until its head breaks off. This indicates that the proper torque has been applied to secure the connection.
- Replace the Screw Plug
Snap the screw plug back into its position and press it firmly into the tower to ensure a proper seal.
- Seal Unused Ports and Replaced Cables
Ensure all unused cable ports are properly sealed. If a cable was previously removed from a port, reseal that port by installing the attached cable plug.
